SHOW RULES:
Eligibility of Animals: all goats must be registered in the herdbook of a recognized association, including ABGA, IBGA, USBGA and the Canadian Boer Goat Assn. Original registration certificates are required, although a copy of a Registration Application, stamped with the date received by one of the listed associations, can be accepted for kids less than 3 months of age.Ennobled Herd Book Points: Only goats entered under their ABGA registration number and presenting their ABGA Certificate of Registration will be eligible to earn points for their actual placing in the show as described in the ABGA "Criteria for Ennoblement of a Boer Goat". Tattoos: All goats must have legible tattoos or other means of permanent identification consistent with its registration Certificate or the animal will be disqualified. If the animal has a microchip as it’s permanent identification then the exhibitor is responsible for providing a microchip reader. Computing Ages: Birth dates, as listed on the registration certificate will be used to determine the class divisions. Take the show date and count back to the birth date to determine the age/class for the animal. Classes: All animals must be registered purebred, fullblood or percentage blood Boer goats. Percentage doe classes are for goats 50-88%. Purebred/Fullblood classes are for does that are 15/16 blood (94%) or higher. Buck classes are for bucks that are 31/32 blood (97%) or higher. Progeny of fresh does will NOT be allowed in the ring. At the discretion of the judge and superintendent, goats may be let loose in the ring as a function of judging. The Champion and Reserve Champion class will be chosen from the first and second place animals in that division of the show. Proof of ownership shall be the name on the registration certificate. Persons showing animals whose registration certificates have signed transfers that have not been processed by the office of the registering association must show those animals as agent for the owner on the registration certificate. YOUTH NOTE: All animals must be owned and exhibited by the exhibitor. Registered animals must be registered in the name of the participant only. The only exception for exhibiting shall be: 1) if the exhibitor has more than one animal showing at that time or 2) if the member is in attendance, but physically unable to show his/her goat/ If the member is physically unable to show his/her goat, he/she must present a doctor’s statement to show management. Current health papers, dated within 30 days of the show, are required. No animals will be allowed to show without health papers. Ear tags or tattoos must be listed on the health certificate. Any animal with any contagious diseases including, but not limited to: pink eye, sore mouth, ringworm, or abscesses in any stage will not be admitted. In the case of a dispute, a veterinarian will be called at the owner’s expense. Animals refused for health reasons are required to stay in their vehicle and will not be shown. Please be considerate of the animals of other exhibitors by not bringing those goats that may be refused entry for health reasons. DOGS MUST BE CONTAINED, THIS WILL BE ENFORCED. NO REFUNDS WILL BE MADE.
The American Boer Goat Association, the Vernon County Fairgrounds, the Vernon County Fair Board, the Goat/Sheep Committee, the Missouri Junior Boer Goat Association or advisors of the Missouri Junior Boer Goat Assn. will not be held responsible for illness, injury, damage or loss of animals, person or property. Substitutions will be allowed, limited to 5 each exhibitor. You may send in your entry form without registration numbers if you are waiting on registration certificate(s) BUT ALL OTHER INFORMATION MUST BE COMPLETED! If an exhibitor buys an animal from the judge, the exhibitor must have owned the animal at least 90 days prior to the show. Artificial coloring will be a disqualification, as well as illegible tattoos or tattoos inconsistent with the goat’s registration papers. Any doe over 24 months of age that has not kidded and cannot prove a current pregnancy will not be allowed to show. ABGA / MJBGA rules shall govern their respective shows.
